Moonlight Beauty is a unique tea from Xishuangbanna finished with only one step--withering under the night sky. The tea tree itself is a Puer variety called Da Bai Hao which means big white tea down/fur. After picking on a clear day (the ancient story goes only by the most beautiful girls in the village) the tea buds are laid out under a moonlit sky to wither until dry, which is a crossover from white tea finishing. The flavor brings that unique Puer taste-cha qi-but incorporates a gentle smoothness and sweetness from white tea. Nothing about this tea is typical with even the buds drawing attention to their unique characteristics. One surface is grayish black and the other is a bright white, while both are covered in a beautiful tea down. Some even say each bud echoes the shape of a crescent moon in the night sky.
Storage: Store unused portions away from light in a moderately humid area between 70-80F/21-27C.
Brewing water: Earth2O brand mineral water produces the finest results. Soft water, distilled water and hard water will ruin this tea. Tap water varies wildly and is best avoided as well.
Brewing method: 3-5g tea leaves (~1.5 heaping Tablespoons), 60-80ml (~1/4-1/3 cup) water each time with quick infusions in a Chinese gaiwan or a small pot.
