Frosted Winter Raw Puer is a rare and unique pleasure normally kept by our grower for her personal drinking. Before sliding into winter hibernation, the tree loads up on fragrance, flavor and other molecules needed to help push out next year’s early spring buds. Right before picking in late December, the very light gilding of frost has to be just right—too much and the leaf wilts, too little clips the sweet finish. The result is a frost bitten wonder with jumbo leaves, extra smooth texture and a high natural floral sweetness that can be infused more than 18 times.
Storage: Store unused portions away from light in a moderately humid area between 70-80F/21-27C.
Brewing water: Earth2O brand mineral water produces the finest results. Soft water, distilled water and hard water will ruin this tea. Tap water varies wildly and is best avoided as well.
Brewing method: 3-5g tea leaves (~1.5 heaping Tablespoons), 60-80ml (~1/4-1/3 cup) water each time with quick infusions in a Chinese gaiwan or a small pot.
